So this happened…

March 9, 2020 Governor Reynolds announces the first 3 cases of the corona virus which lead to partial shutdowns and safety protocols

And Yet…

a year later as we are still battling covid-19 vaccinations have begun and positivity rates gradually decline.

So this happened…

May 25, 2020 upon arrest George Floyd was killed by a police officer kneeling on his neck for 8 minutes 46 seconds sparking a critical mass protest against racism and police brutality.

And Yet…

we await the trial and verdict to hold the police officer accountable while continuing to fight an unjust system and systematic racism which is woven in the very fabric of our society.

So this happened… 

“The Bishop and her appointive cabinet would like to announce that Pastor LaTonya Calderon  will be reappointed to Windsor UMC in Des Moines, as their next pastor, effective July 1, 2021.” 

And Yet…

the District Superintendent and the Staff Pastor Relations Committee are praying and working toward helping the Bishop and her appointive cabinet to make another great appointment! (I am great right?! 😊)

So this happened… 

2000 years ago Jesus lived, died, and rose from the dead with all power in his hands declaring life for those who would believe and confess him as Lord and Savior.

And Yet…

there are so many who have yet to receive the invitation. And sometimes his own disciples (you and me) don’t follow him and often ignore his greatest command: Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind, soul, and strength and love your neighbor as yourself. 

And So

…through it all, the up and the downs, the good and the bad, we are called Easter People again and again and again and again because God’s love is just that good! Keep love alive. Keep peace alive. Keep justice alive. Keep hope alive. AGAIN & AGAIN.
