I am So Proud
I am so proud…
I am so proud to be a Christian living a life modeled after the love, and forgiveness of Jesus Christ yet often ashamed when those who call themselves Christians do not love or forgive.
I am so proud to be a pastor chosen to serve and lead God’s people to become better disciples of Jesus Christ, and ministers to the world yet often ashamed when clergy counter parts disdain the office inflicting hurt or harm with unholy actions.
I am so proud to be part of the human race of which all cultures in their unique differences abide yet often ashamed when humans create hatred and division between cultures.
I am so proud to be an American living in a country where life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are our values yet often ashamed when America denies these values to others.
I am so proud to be a part of the Black culture honoring our different skin tones, creative genius, and living the rhythm and soul of life yet often ashamed when members of our black culture hurt or harm one another.
All of these parts of me go together and yet at times I must focus on one of these single parts for health and healing, and my focus on one of these part does not negate the other parts. In February, we celebrate Valentine’s Day focusing on our love for others. It is also a time to celebrate Black History, and its accomplishments within American History. My prayer is that it is also a time of reflection and healing some the hurts and injustices inflicted upon us. In this newsletter I will share with you a few of my favorite things from Black History of which I am so proud of.
Loving God, heart, mind, soul,
and strength,
Rev. LaTonya P. Calderon, Pastor
