Let’s Make It A “Golden Buzzer” Year!
My pastoral leadership focus last year was on encouraging all of us to make different/better decisions in 2018. And that we did! As a church we decided to engage the Healthy Church Initiative (HCI) and are about half way through phase 1. I have also heard stories of personal changes and growth. I myself made the decision to tackle weight loss not just to feel better but to be able to do the things in life better. I wanted more energy, better concentration, and a happier attitude while living this life for God. I must say that I have prayed for years to loose weight to no avail but this time, joining you in making better/different decisions I have begun my weight loss journey. I invite you to continue to make better/different decisions along with the good decisions you are already making. This year my pastoral leadership is a continuation of last year’s goal but with the focus of making it a “Golden Buzzer” year. In the TV show America’s Got Talent, there are times when one performs so well that the Golden Buzzer is pushed and they skip toward the end of the contest. The buzzer is heard, confetti falls, music plays, the crowd cheers, the contestant cries and can’t believe that they received the Golden Buzzer. That overwhelming feeling of being chosen for such a wonderful honor is what I want to share with others. I want people to feel as though they matter! As Christians we believe that we mattered so much that God sent God’s son to save us from our sin. Every person should feel overjoyed that God hit the “Golden Buzzer” for us so let’s be a part of the crowd cheering with joy and excitement, doing and being for others simply because God loves them so much. There are so many people in pain, fear, loneliness, hopeless, struggling, sick, and in despair. Let’s push the “Golden Buzzer” on them with a smile, conversation, encouragement, helping hand, and verbal/non-verbal message of the love of God for all. I invite you to hit the “Golden Buzzer!”
